South African Tourism is excited to announce that this year’s INDABA has won the Exhibition and Event Association of Southern Africa’s (EXSA) Platinum Award in the Trade Show (10 000 square metre) category.
The awards took place at Montecasino where the travel industry was out in force to celebrate and recognise the achievements of peers and partners alike.
EXSA’s mandate is to actively grow and develop the exhibition and events industry within Southern Africa.
“We are thrilled to accept this EXSA award. It underlines the fact that INDABA is globally recognised as Africa’s Top Travel Show and will continue to be for many years to come,” said Sthembiso Dlamini, Acting CEO of South African Tourism.
“An enormous amount of hard work and talent goes into staging this three day showcase and business platform. We accept the award in acknowledgement of the incredible team work and collaboration involved in making INDABA the must-attend trade show for exhibitors and buyers all over the African continent.”
On-site judges look at a wide variety of criteria, including marketing and promotional campaigns. The quality and visual impact of an exhibition are also scrutinised, and this includes registration, signage, staff knowledge, innovation and visitor satisfaction. Functionality, added value, greening and social responsibility all play a role in the judging process, and one of the main questions judges ask is: Who is the target market, and how effectively has it been reached? INDABA scored over 80% in this strict judgment process in order to receive a Platinum Award.
“INDABA is a quality business platform for local and continental product owners to network and do business with credible buyers from across the globe. Beyond that, it is also a platform for delegates to receive the most recent developments on the state of the industry from industry heavyweights,” says Dlamini.
“This EXSA Award inspires us at South African Tourism to push the boundaries in terms of innovation, delivery and reliability. We thank all of our exhibitors, staff members, partners and stakeholders for passionately working alongside us in our endeavor to deliver a travel and tourism tradeshow that exceeds expectations,” says Dlamini.
INDABA 2016 will take place from 7-9 May at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.
